SEMARANG, jateng.bps.go.id - Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) Jawa Tengah once again collaborated with Pojok Statistik Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) in organizing ELITA – Education and Statistical Literacy for Excellent Students Series 6, held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. This session carried the theme “BPS Data for Thesis Topics.”
Present at the event was Prof. Tarno, Head of the Department of Statistics at UNDIP, who delivered the opening speech. The event was officially opened by Acting Head of BPS Jawa Tengah, Endang Tri Wahyuningsih, who also served as the keynote speaker. In her remarks, Endang emphasized the importance of data synergy in supporting academic research. BPS data, she noted, serves as a valid and comprehensive foundation of national statistics. Academics, she added, need high-quality data to conduct relevant and impactful research. Strategic collaboration between BPS and universities strengthens evidence-based research and enhances the credibility of academic findings.
The participants of this ELITA session consisted of lecturers and students from UNDIP as well as other universities. Held virtually, the event featured Hendrawan Toni Taruno, a civil servant at BPS Jawa Tengah and a doctoral candidate at UNDIP, as the main speaker. Toni shared insights on how BPS data can be used to develop research topics — from drafting research proposals to identifying thesis topics based on BPS data — while also discussing common challenges faced by students in writing their theses.
