SEMARANG, jateng.bps.go.id – ELITA (Education and Statistical Literacy for Outstanding University Students) was launched as a strategic initiative to enhance students’ statistical literacy amid the abundance of data in the era of the Industrial Revolution 5.0. Carrying the theme “From Data to Real Impact through BPS Statistical Services,” the program emphasized that data only gains value when it is properly analyzed, understood, and utilized to support research, decision-making, and evidence-based development.
ELITA Series 1 of 2026 was held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, and conducted online. The event featured Prof. Tarno, Head of the Department of Statistics at Diponegoro University, as the Opening Speaker; Ali Said, Head of BPS–Statistics Indonesia of Central Java Province, as the Keynote Speaker; as well as speakers Pristiana Diah Ariyantika and Indah Purnamasari, Junior Expert Statisticians from BPS Central Java Province.
In his remarks, Ali stated that in the era of the Industrial Revolution 5.0, statistical data is increasingly abundant and easily accessible. However, without adequate statistical literacy, data cannot generate knowledge or real impact. Students are therefore encouraged to utilize official BPS data in academic research, analysis of development issues, and data-driven decision-making, enabling them to actively serve as agents of statistical literacy and contribute meaningfully to Indonesia’s development.
