Semarang, jateng.bps.go.id - Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) Provinsi Jawa Tengah collaborated with the Statistics Corner of Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) in organizing ELITA (Education and Statistical Literacy for Excellent Students) Series 3 on Thursday, March 26, 2026. This activity carried the theme *“Behind Poverty Figures: Statistical Approaches in Data Analysis.”*

The event was officially opened by the Head of BPS Jawa Tengah Province, Ali Said. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of statistical literacy for students as a foundation for understanding various socio-economic phenomena more deeply and in a data-driven manner.

Also present was the Head of the Statistics Department at Universitas Diponegoro, Prof. Tarno, who expressed support for the activity and highlighted the importance of synergy between universities and BPS in enhancing students’ capacity in statistics and data analysis.

ELITA Series 3 featured Sriningsih, an Statistisi Ahli Madya at BPS Jawa Tengah Province, as the speaker. In her presentation, she stressed that poverty is not merely a number, but a representation of complex social and economic conditions. Therefore, statistical approaches are essential to process and analyze data in order to reveal patterns, causal factors, and poverty trends more comprehensively.

The activity was attended by students from various universities who showed strong enthusiasm for improving their statistical literacy. Through this online event, participants not only gained an understanding of poverty data analysis but also insights into how statistical data can be utilized as a basis for well-targeted policy formulation.

In addition, ELITA also served as a platform for students to expand their connections and build networks with data practitioners from BPS. It is hoped that through this activity, students will become a generation capable of transforming data into valuable insights and contributing real impact to development.
