Magelang, jateng.bps.go.id — BPS Jawa Tengah Province participated in a Statistical Literacy Webinar organized by the Department of Communication, Informatics, Statistics, and Encryption (Diskominsta) of Magelang City on Wednesday (August 26, 2026). Carrying the theme “Loving Data, Understanding Technology, Building Regions with Precision,” the event served as a platform to strengthen statistical literacy while promoting the use of technology to support data-driven development.

Head of BPS Jawa Tengah Province, Ali Said, served as one of the speakers at the webinar, which was attended by government officials and statistics practitioners, particularly those within the Magelang City Government. In his presentation, Ali Said emphasized the importance of understanding statistical data as a foundation for formulating development policies. According to him, high-quality data needs to be supported by human resources capable of properly reading, understanding, and utilizing data.

In line with technological developments, BPS Jawa Tengah also recognizes the importance of strengthening the capacity of government officials and statistics practitioners in utilizing various data-processing tools and technologies. Such capabilities are increasingly important amid the growing diversity of data sources and the rapid advancement of digital technology.

The webinar also featured M. Ifdhal Zaky Elyasa, Business & Data Analyst at PT. Xquisite AI, and Arie Wahyu Wijayanto, Deputy Director I for Academic Affairs at the Politeknik Statistika STIS. The speakers shared perspectives on the use of technology in data management and analysis to support development needs.

One of the topics discussed during the event was the use of Microsoft Power BI as a tool for data analysis and visualization. Participants also gained insights into the utilization of big data and artificial intelligence (AI) in development planning.

For BPS Jawa Tengah, strengthening statistical literacy is part of efforts to build an increasingly robust statistical ecosystem. Statistical literacy is essential to ensure that data is not merely understood as numbers, but can be properly utilized to generate information that supports evidence-based policy.

BPS’s participation in the event initiated by the Magelang City Diskominsta also represents an effort to strengthen collaboration in sectoral statistics. Synergy among institutions is essential to improving the quality of statistical activities and encouraging more optimal use of data in the formulation of regional policies.
