Semarang, jateng.bps.go.id – The Statistical Visit activity of Universitas Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya (UWKS) is a form of field-based learning aimed at enhancing statistical literacy and students’ understanding of the role of data in national development. Through this activity, students are introduced directly to the process of producing official statistics and the strategic role of BPS-Statistics in supporting data-driven decision-making. The activity was attended by students and lecturers from the Informatics Study Program of UWKS as part of strengthening academic competencies and practical insights in statistics and information technology.

The activity, held on Thursday, 16 April 2026, began with a visit to the Integrated Statistical Service (PST) of BPS-Statistics Jawa Tengah Province. Participants received explanations on statistical services, data access mechanisms, and the utilization of statistical data by the public, academics, and government. The program then continued at the 5th Floor Hall of BPS-Statistics Jawa Tengah Province with a presentation on the role of official statistics in supporting data-driven policies in the era of digital transformation.

On this occasion, the Head of the Software Engineering Laboratory and Lecturer of the UWKS Informatics Study Program, Maslihah, delivered remarks outlining the purpose of the visit as part of students’ practical learning. The event was followed by a briefing and presentation from the Head of BPS-Statistics Jawa Tengah Province, Ali Said, on the challenges of providing high-quality data in a data-driven policy environment. The session was conducted interactively through discussions and a Q&A session, and concluded with a statistics quiz that further engaged participants in understanding the importance of official statistics.

Through this activity, it is expected that stronger synergy will be established between universities and BPS-Statistics in enhancing statistical literacy, promoting the use of official data for research and innovation, and fostering a data-aware younger generation to support sustainable development in Indonesia.
