Semarang, jateng.bps.go.id – The
development of rice production in Jawa Tengah during the 2009–2014 period shows
a generally positive trend. In 2010, rice production reached 10.11 million tons
of milled dry unhusked rice (GKG), and this condition continued in 2012 and
2013. However, when observed year by year, rice production exhibited
fluctuations. In 2010, production increased by 5.32 percent compared to 2009,
rising from 9.60 million tons to 10.11 million tons of GKG. Increases also
occurred during the 2011–2012 and 2012–2013 periods, with growth rates of 8.95
percent and 1.09 percent, respectively. Nevertheless, in 2011 and 2014, rice
production in Jawa Tengah declined by 7.11 percent and 6.73 percent,
respectively, compared to the previous years.
Fluctuations in rice production are influenced by several
factors, including harvested area and crop productivity levels. The pattern of
rice production fluctuations appears to follow the pattern of expansion and
reduction in harvested area in Jawa Tengah. In 2009, the harvested area was
1.73 million hectares and continued to increase to 1.85 million hectares in
2013. However, in 2011, the harvested area decreased from 1.80 million hectares
in 2010 to 1.72 million hectares, which contributed to the decline in rice
production in that year. Similarly, in 2014, the harvested area decreased by
2.41 percent compared to 2013, and this reduction also affected rice production
in 2014.
