Semarang, jateng.bps.go.id - BPS Jawa Tengah Province, together with the Statistics Corner of Diponegoro University (Undip), once again held the 8th series of Statistical Education and Literacy (ELITA) on Friday, August 28, 2026. Under the theme “Sakernas Data as a Foundation for Gen Z Entering the Workforce,” the event discussed the use of employment data as a resource for young people to better understand the world of work.
The event was opened by Prof. Tarno, Head of the Department of Statistics at Diponegoro University, and featured Ali Said, Head of BPS Jawa Tengah Province. In his remarks, Ali Said emphasized that data can help identify opportunities in the workforce, from choosing promising fields to understanding labor demand as a consideration when making career choices.
The main presentation was delivered by Asna Mega Prabandari, Junior Expert Statistician at BPS Jawa Tengah Province and a member of the Social Statistics Team at BPS Jawa Tengah Province.
In her presentation, Asna introduced the National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas) as an important source of data for understanding employment conditions. Participants were invited to explore an overview of the Jawa Tengah labor market and understand various dynamics of the modern workforce, ranging from the gig economy and digital informal employment to the alignment of education and skills, internship experience, and the transition from education to employment.
Through ELITA Series 8, BPS Jawa Tengah Province and the Statistics Corner of Undip encourage young people to become more data-literate and understand labor market conditions through available data. An understanding of Sakernas is expected to equip Gen Z with the knowledge needed to recognize developments in the world of work and prepare themselves for employment in a more focused and informed manner.
