In the oil and gas sector, imports declined by 28.18 percent to US$3,075.57 million. In terms of usage, import growth was driven by capital goods, while imports of consumer goods and raw materials/auxiliary materials declined. “Imports of raw materials/auxiliary materials, the main contributor to the overall import decline, reached US$6,815.18 million, down 12.44 percent compared to the same period last year,” Endang elaborated.

The non-oil and gas trade surplus in the first seven months of this year was largely supported by five key commodities, which are Jawa Tengah’s leading exports. These commodities are non-knitted clothing and accessories (US$1,115.85 million), knitted clothing and accessories (US$921.78 million), footwear (US$830.80 million), wood and wood products (US$575.16 million), and tanned leather products (US$500.08 million).
