Abstract

  • In August 2021, Central Java experienced a deflation of -0.01 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.11. Of the six CPI cities in Central Java, two cities experienced deflation and four cities experienced inflation.
  • The main cause of deflation in Central Java in August 2021 was the decline in the price of cayenne pepper, air transportation, red chili, shallots, and online 2-wheeled vehicle tariffs. The main barrier to deflation in Central Java is the increase in the price of cooking oil, filter kretek cigarettes, tomatoes, general practitioner fees, and academies/universities.
  • The inflation rate for the calendar year August 2021 is 0.57 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (August 2021 against August 2020) is 1.42 percent.
