Abstract

  • In October 2022, a combination of six cities in Central Java experienced deflation of 0.12 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 112.64. Of the six CPI cities in Central Java, three cities experienced deflation and three cities experienced inflation.
  • The main cause of deflation in October 2022 was the decline in prices for red chili, broiler eggs, broiler meat, cayenne pepper, and air transportation. The main drivers of deflation are rising prices for rice, recreation, gasoline, online 2-wheeler rates, and household fuel.
  • The inflation rate for the calendar year October 2022 is 4.98 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (October 2022 to October 2021) is 6.00 percent.
