Abstract

  • In August 2022, a combination of six cities in Central Java experienced a deflation of 0.39 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 111.45. Of the six CPI cities in Central Java, all cities experienced deflation.
  • The main cause of deflation in August 2022 was the decline in the prices of shallots, red chilies, air transportation, cooking oil, and cayenne pepper. The main barrier to deflation is the increase in prices for non-foreman workers, rice, filter kretek cigarettes, broiler eggs and bananas.
  • The inflation rate for the calendar year August 2022 is 3.87 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (August 2022 against August 2021) is 5.03 percent.
