BPS Jawa Tengah Holds a Media Gathering for Journalists

SEMARANG, jateng.bps.go.id - As part of its efforts to enhance statistical literacy among journalists, Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) Jawa Tengah organized a Media Gathering on the 2026 Economic Census and Statistical Literacy for Journalists. This activity, held as part of the Statistical Literacy Movement (Gerakan Literasi Statistik/GLS), was also integrated with the socialization of the 2026 Economic Census (SE2026).

The event took place at Harris Hotel Sentraland Semarang on Thursday, October 30, 2025, and was attended by participants from various media outlets, both print and electronic. On this occasion, Acting Head of BPS Jawa Tengah, Endang Tri Wahyuningsih, served as the keynote speaker. She emphasized that journalists should view data as an opportunity — a means to transform abstract information into something understandable and meaningful for the public, which in turn can influence societal decision-making. Endang also highlighted the crucial role of the media in supporting the successful implementation of the 2026 Economic Census.

At the same event, Wisnu Nurdiyanto, a Senior Statistician at BPS Jawa Tengah, presented insights on how BPS strategic indicators are produced and how valuable understanding can be derived from them. He explained that BPS strategic indicators serve as “a portrait of the nation behind the numbers,” reflecting the country’s socioeconomic conditions through data.
