SEPTEMBER INFLATION 0.04%
September 2020, Central Java Province experienced inflation of 0.04%. Central Java Central Bureau of Statistics released the September Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 104.66. Inflation that occurred shows an increase in people's purchasing power where in August, Central Java experienced a deflation of 0.03%.
The increase in house contracts was the main contributor to inflation. Other commodities contributing to inflation in Central Java are cooking oil, college education fees, garlic and oily pastries. On the other hand, the decline in eggs was the main barrier to inflation along with broiler meat, gold jewelry and garlic.
Of the 6 CPI cities in Central Java, 2 cities, namely Surakarta and Semarang, experienced inflation and 4 cities experienced deflation, namely Cilacap, Purwokerto, Kudus and Tegal. The highest inflation was in Surakarta at 0.09%, while the highest was in Kudus at 0.08%.
The year-on-year inflation rate for September 2020 is 1.46 percent. Meanwhile, inflation for the calendar year for September 2020 was 0.74%. This calendar year inflation is much lower than the September 2018 calendar year inflation and the September 2019 calendar year inflation of 1.82% and 2.13%, respectively.
