Semarang, jateng.bps.go.id - Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Jawa Tengah Province held the 6th Series of the 2026 Sectoral Statistics Development Program under the theme “National Statistical System” on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at the 5th Floor Auditorium of the BPS Jawa Tengah Province Office. The activity aimed to enhance the competencies of data producers within the Jawa Tengah Provincial Government and strengthen their understanding of quality and integrated sectoral statistics.
The event was opened by the Head of BPS Jawa Tengah Province, Ali Said. In his opening remarks, Ali Said emphasized the importance of high-quality, meaningful, and impactful statistical data in supporting development. Quality and integrated statistical data serve as an essential foundation for decision-making, policy formulation, and improvements in public service quality.
He explained that the success of sectoral statistics development should not be measured solely by the ability of regional government agencies to produce data, but also by how the data are utilized at every stage of development, from planning and implementation to evaluation and control.
Ali Said also emphasized that collaboration between BPS as the data supervisor and regional government agencies as data producers is key to the success of sectoral statistics development. Through cross-unit and cross-sector collaboration, the implementation of sectoral statistics is expected to improve and produce data relevant to development needs.
On this occasion, Ali Said highlighted the importance of the Evaluation of Sectoral Statistical Activities (EPSS), which produces the Statistical Development Index (IPS), as an instrument for measuring the maturity level of sectoral statistics implementation in government institutions. The evaluation results are expected to serve as a basis for continuous improvement by regional government agencies in enhancing data quality and statistical governance.
The event featured Eka Suprapti, Head of the Data and Statistics Management Division at the Jawa Tengah Provincial Department of Communication, Informatics, and Digital Affairs (Diskomdigi), as a speaker. She delivered a presentation entitled “Strategies for Data Producers to Produce Quality Data to Support Improvements in the Statistical Development Index (IPS).” The presentation was expected to strengthen regional government agencies’ understanding of the role of data producers in supporting quality sectoral statistics and improving the IPS score.
In addition, speakers from BPS Jawa Tengah Province delivered presentations on the National Statistical System, the use of the Sectoral Statistical Activity Evaluation Information System (SIPESAT) application, statistical metadata, and statistical recommendations. These sessions were followed by hands-on assistance with form completion to help regional government agencies meet the documentation and administrative requirements for sectoral statistics implementation.
