BPS of Jateng Province Opens 2027 SPKRT Instructor Training, Strengthening Data Quality Assurance

Semarang, jateng.bps.go.id — BPS of Jawa Tengah Province officially opened the online Regional Instructor Training for the 2027 Household Consumption Pattern Survey (Survei Pola Konsumsi Rumah Tangga/SPKRT) on Monday, October 19, 2026. This activity marks the first step in preparing competent instructors to oversee the quality of SPKRT 2027 implementation.

In his address, the Head of BPS of Jawa Tengah Province emphasized the important role of instructors in ensuring a consistent understanding of concepts, methodologies, and data collection standards. Instructors are not only responsible for delivering training materials but also for ensuring that prospective field officers understand every stage of data collection correctly, from identifying commodities and classifying market types to converting local units of measurement and coding the commodity master list.

SPKRT 2027 is a strategic initiative to provide up-to-date and representative data on household consumption patterns. The resulting data will serve as an important basis for updating the commodity basket and weighting diagram for the Consumer Price Index (CPI), with 2027 as the base year (2027=100), while also supporting the compilation of other economic indicators.

The implementation of SPKRT 2027 presents its own challenges as the survey expands its coverage to all 514 regencies and municipalities across Indonesia, including all 35 regencies and municipalities in Jawa Tengah. Changes in consumption patterns, the growth of e-commerce, and the increasing use of digital payments require more meticulous data collection to ensure that the results accurately reflect current household consumption conditions.

Through this training, instructors are expected to establish a common understanding, strengthen technical competencies, and instill integrity and attention to detail among prospective field officers. Consistent understanding and application of data collection standards are key to minimizing errors and maintaining the consistency of the resulting data.
