Strengthening Social Statistics Transformation: SE2026 Must Be the Best in History
August 14, 2026 | BPS Activities
Semarang, jateng.bps.go.id — Ngopi Ganteng Bareng Pak Acul, featuring the Deputy Chief Statistician for Social Statistics, was held at BPS of Jawa Tengah Province on Friday, August 14, 2026. The event provided a platform to strengthen motivation, reflection, and transformation in addressing the future challenges of social statistics.
In his remarks, Deputy Chief Statistician for Social Statistics Nasrul Wajdi emphasized that the 2026 Economic Census (SE2026) must become the best census in history. The increasingly broad coverage of SE2026 presents both a challenge and an opportunity to capture more diverse economic activities, including informal economic activities, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and household businesses.
He stressed that the data produced by BPS should not merely be correct, but also meaningful and impactful. Therefore, data collection must be conducted properly, data quality must be safeguarded, and statistical literacy among the public must continue to be strengthened so that BPS concepts and indicators can be properly understood.
The meeting also served as a momentum to encourage transformation, move beyond business-as-usual practices, and develop human resources capable of adapting to change. While routine tasks must continue to be carried out, they should be accompanied by new initiatives to produce statistics that are increasingly relevant to the needs of society and development.
SE2026 is not merely a data collection activity, but a momentum to deliver more comprehensive, high-quality, meaningful, and impactful economic data for Indonesia.
