July 31, 2026 | BPS Activities
Semarang, jateng.bps.go.id — The implementation of the 2026 Economic Census (SE2026) received oversight and attention from Committee IV of the Regional Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI) for Jawa Tengah during a Working Meeting on the supervision of the implementation of Law Number 16 of 1997 on Statistics, with a particular focus on SE2026. The meeting was held at the DPD RI Office of Jawa Tengah Province on Friday, July 31, 2026.
The meeting was chaired by Casytha A. Kathmandu, S.E., M.Fin., a member of Committee IV of DPD RI representing Jawa Tengah Province, who provided recommendations, guidance, and support to ensure the successful implementation of SE2026 and the production of data that accurately reflects regional economic conditions. Representatives from BPS of Jawa Tengah Province and business actors also attended the meeting to share insights and aspirations directly.
In his keynote speech, the Head of BPS of Jawa Tengah Province, Dr. Ali Said, M.A., explained that SE2026 is designed to capture changes in Indonesia’s economic structure, including the growth of the digital economy, creative economy, and green economy. The census aims to cover all economic activities, ranging from micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to large businesses, including household businesses, seasonal businesses, mobile businesses, and businesses operating online or through hybrid online and offline models. To ensure comprehensive coverage and high-quality data, BPS implements complete area canvassing, multi-level data checks, system validation, and field supervision.
Ali Said also emphasized the importance of respondent trust and data confidentiality throughout the implementation of SE2026. All information collected by BPS is used exclusively for statistical purposes and is protected under Law Number 16 of 1997 on Statistics. To maintain data quality, BPS applies quality assurance measures before, during, and after data collection, including comprehensive enumerator training, tiered supervision, completeness checks, automated validation, routine evaluations, anomaly detection, and the implementation of Quality Gates at every stage of the census process.
The results of SE2026 are expected to serve not only as official statistical publications but also as a foundation for development planning and evaluation, including the preparation of long-term and medium-term regional development plans (RPJPD and RPJMD), MSME development, investment policies, industrial estate development, creative economy initiatives, and the evaluation of regional economic transformation. With the support of DPD RI, business actors, and all stakeholders, SE2026 is expected to produce accurate, comprehensive, and high-quality data to support more effective, evidence-based development policies that deliver tangible benefits to society.
