SEMARANG, jateng.bps.go.id – The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Central Java Province reported that Central Java's economy grew 5.28 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2025 compared to the same period the previous year. This was conveyed by the Acting Head of BPS Central Java Province, Endang Tri Wahyuningsih, in an official press release issued on Tuesday (August 5, 2025).

Endang explained that based on the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), Central Java's economic value in the second quarter of 2025 at current prices (ADHB) reached IDR 483,260.03 trillion, while at constant prices in 2010 it was recorded at IDR 303,778.85 trillion.

"The 5.28 percent economic growth demonstrates the resilience and continued recovery of the regional economy, primarily driven by strong manufacturing industry activity and household consumption," said Endang.

Stable Growth Between Periods

Compared to the previous quarter (the first quarter of 2025), Central Java's economy grew 1.87 percent (quarter-to-quarter/q-to-q). Cumulatively, in the first semester of 2025, Central Java's economic growth reached 5.13 percent (cumulative to cumulative/c-to-c), indicating the region's continued solid economic performance amidst national and global economic dynamics.

Processing Industry a Key Support

In terms of business sectors, the manufacturing industry remains the backbone of Central Java's economy, contributing 33.34 percent to the total GRDP. This sector continues to be a key driver of the regional economy, particularly in the textile, food and beverage, and furniture industries.

Meanwhile, in terms of expenditure, Central Java's economic growth is dominated by Household Consumption (PK-RT), with a contribution of 61.56 percent. According to Endang, this demonstrates the community's strong purchasing power and supports sustainable economic growth.

The Central Java Statistics Agency (BPS) encourages the public, academics, and policymakers to utilize GRDP data more broadly in regional economic development planning and evaluation.
