Jawa Tengah BPS Supervises the Monitoring and Evaluation Survey of the Free Nutritious Meal Program

June 18, 2025 | BPS Activities

PURWOREJO, jateng.bps.go.id, The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Jawa Tengah Province is taking strategic steps to ensure the effectiveness of the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) initiated by the government. Acting Head of BPS of Jawa Tengah Province, Endang Tri Wahyuningsih, together with Associate Expert Statistician Didik Nursetyohadi, supervised the implementation of the MBG Program Monitoring and Evaluation Survey in Purworejo Regency and Magelang Regency on June 17-18, 2025.

The MBG Program Monitoring and Evaluation Survey conducted by BPS includes two types of surveys, namely the Special Survey and the Baseline Survey. Currently, the Special Survey is ongoing from 15 to 29 June 2025, while the Baseline Survey is planned to begin in July 2025.

"This survey is important to ensure that the MBG program truly has a positive impact on the community, especially in terms of health, education, and economy," said Endang during her visit to the field.

The Special Survey aims to measure the direct impact of the MBG program on various indicators such as employment, supply chain, availability of raw materials, community welfare, food security, and community perception of the benefits of the program in the health and education sectors.

Meanwhile, the Baseline Survey focuses on collecting data from panel households, both before and after receiving MBG program assistance, to see changes that occur comprehensively over time. The scope of this baseline survey includes food security, student enthusiasm for learning, student hunger levels, student attendance, reduced family burden, consumption patterns, and poverty levels.

The MBG program itself is one of the government's efforts to improve the nutritional status of the community and support the development of children in the field of education by providing free nutritious food in various regions, including Jawa Tengah.

By implementing a systematic and data-based survey, BPS hopes that the results of this evaluation can be an important foundation for improving and strengthening the MBG program in the future.
