POSITIVE REPORT ON CENTRAL JAVA ECONOMY GROWS 4.97%

Central Java's economy in the first quarter of 2024 recorded positive growth, namely 4.97%, accelerating compared to the achievement in the fourth quarter of 2023 which grew 4.73% (y-on-y). In terms of production, the highest growth was achieved by the Government Administration business field, namely 16.50% (y-on-y). Meanwhile, in terms of expenditure, the highest increase was recorded by the Consumption Expenditure Component of Non-Profit Institutions Serving Households (PK-LNPRT), namely 23.53% (y-on-y).

Structurally, the Processing Industry business sector dominates the economic structure of Central Java in the first quarter of 2024 with a contribution of 34.99% (y-on-y), while in terms of expenditure it is dominated by the Household Consumption Expenditure Component (PK-RT) with a contribution of 60.62% (y-on-y).

The development of the Gender Gap Index (IKG) for Central Java in 2023 is 0.336, lower than in 2022 of 0.371, which indicates a reduction in the gap between men and women in Central Java. The highest IKG in Central Java 2023 is in Sragen Regency at 0.457 and the lowest is in Magelang City at 0.121.

Employment conditions in Central Java Province, the total workforce in February 2024 was 21.35 million people, an increase of 0.28 million people compared to the workforce in February 2023. In contrast to the Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) which was recorded to have decreased from 72.33% to 72.22% in February 2024.

Meanwhile, the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) for February 2024 was 4.39%, down 0.85% points compared to February 2023, the percentage of underemployed workers rose by 1.89% points to 8.32%, while the percentage of part-time workers fell by 0.4% points to 23.24% compared to February 2023.
