Abstract

The publication of the Elderly Population Profile aims to describe the socio-demographic profile of the elderly in Central Java Province in 2021. The main statistical data used as a reference include the results of Susenas and Sakernas as well as other supporting data (results of the 2020 Population Census and Interim Population Projections 2020-2023).The percentage of the elderly population to the total population in Central Java Province continues to increase, from 12.22 percent in 2020 to 12.71 percent in 2021. That there are still many elderly who act as breadwinners (51.44 percent work), and as the head of the household (56.42 percent), indicating that the role of the elderly in the household is actually still large. The high percentage of the elderly working shows that the elderly are not merely a burden but are still able to productively finance their household life. However, on the other hand, it also indicates that the level of welfare of the elderly is still low, so that the elderly still have to work to support themselves and their families. The percentage of male elderly who work is much larger than female elderly, which is 64.21 percent compared to 40.30 percent. The agricultural business field is still the sector that absorbs the most elderly workers, which is 54.66 percent. Meanwhile, the average income of the elderly who work is 1.122 million rupiah per month, so attention is needed regarding the economic welfare of the elderly.
