Quality, Meaningful, and Impactful Statistics for a Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia

Semarang, jateng.bps.go.id — BPS of Jawa Tengah Province held a ceremony to commemorate National Statistics Day (HSN) 2026 on Saturday, September 26, 2026. The ceremony was attended by all employees and members of Dharma Wanita of BPS of Jawa Tengah Province and was led directly by the Head of BPS of Jawa Tengah Province.

In the address delivered on behalf of the Head of BPS RI, it was emphasized that HSN is not merely a moment to commemorate the history of statistics in Indonesia, but also an opportunity to reflect and strengthen the commitment of everyone involved in the field of statistics.

Quality statistics do not stop at numbers. Behind every number are people’s lives. Therefore, every stage of statistical work must be carried out carefully and honestly, with an understanding of the meaning behind the numbers, while ensuring that the results provide benefits and tangible impacts for society and development.

The Head of BPS RI also expressed appreciation to all statistics professionals for their hard work and dedication in implementing the 2026 Economic Census (SE2026). The results of SE2026 are expected to serve as a foundation for strengthening the Statistical Business Register, supporting the rebasing of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and providing an up-to-date picture of the structure of the economy and the distribution of economic activities.

Amid technological developments, statistics professionals are also encouraged to remain open to innovation, including the use of AI and data science, while upholding methodology, quality, transparency, ethics, security, and confidentiality.

Let us continue moving beyond simply producing statistics toward creating statistical value—from numbers to meaning, and from meaning to tangible impact for Indonesia.
