Simpatik: Preparing for the 2026 Economic Census

Semarang, jateng.bps.go.id - Simpatik returned on Monday, February 23, 2026. This first Simpatik of Ramadan welcomed a special guest, the Deputy for National Accounts and Statistical Analysis of BPS, Edy Mahmud. The event began with an internal briefing on the implementation of the 2026 Economic Census by the Leader of the Garda Team, Wisnu Nurdiyanto.

The 2026 Economic Census marks the fifth economic census since its inception in 1986. The census will be conducted from May 1, 2026, to July 31, 2026. Wisnu encouraged all employees to make the 2026 Economic Census the most successful census in history.

The Simpatik session concluded with guidance from the Deputy for National Accounts and Statistical Analysis of BPS. Edy stated that through collaboration with various ministries and agencies, BPS's position has become more prominent. Consequently, the administrative data available to BPS is also increasing. In the future, it is hoped that the utilization of administrative data will become the primary source, as it is abroad, so that the statistical data produced by BPS can be compared with the data held by local governments. In closing, Edy remarked, “The person who succeeds at work is not necessarily the smartest, but the one who can adapt the best.”
