Semarang, jateng.bps.go.id - At the start of the year, Statistics Indonesia (BPS Jawa Tengah Province) released developments in four key regional indicators through the Official Statistics News Release on Monday, February 3, 2025. The release, delivered by the Head of BPS Jawa Tengah Province, Endang Tri Wahyuningsih, was conducted online via the BPS Jawa Tengah Province YouTube channel.

In her presentation, Endang revealed that Jawa Tengah experienced a deflation of 0.46 percent in January 2025. On an annual basis (year-on-year), inflation was recorded at 1.28 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.58. “The deflation at the beginning of the year was mainly influenced by declining prices of several commodities, such as electricity tariffs, shallots, chicken eggs, cars, and railway fares,” Endang explained. However, some commodities such as red chili, bird’s eye chili, cooking oil, gasoline, and green chili contributed to monthly inflation. Spatially, the highest annual inflation was recorded in Tegal City at 1.76 percent, while the lowest occurred in Purwokerto at 1.02 percent.

Farmer’s Terms of Trade Increase

In the agricultural sector, the Farmer’s Terms of Trade (NTP) in Jawa Tengah in January 2025 reached 113.64, increasing by 0.58 percent compared to the previous month. This increase reflects a rise in farmers’ income relative to their household expenditures.

Tourism and Transportation Performance

BPS also recorded that throughout 2024, the number of domestic tourist trips to Jawa Tengah reached 134.59 million trips. The hotel room occupancy rate (TPK) for star-rated hotels reached 52.70 percent, while non-star hotels recorded 25.36 percent. In the transportation sector, the number of arriving air passengers in Jawa Tengah in October 2024 was 141,731 people, while sea transport passengers totaled 25,349 people. Endang emphasized that the early-year deflation indicates controlled prices of essential goods following the year-end period and serves as a positive signal for people’s purchasing power.
